Seminole Sugar Cane

The Sugarcane operation is now in it's sixth year of production. The project started with approximately 800 acres. Construction was a big part in how much land would be left for production. We have managed to plant 631 acres. Our first harvest would be the following year after planting.

Harvesting is contracted by Sugarland Harvesting. They are responsible for cutting, loading, and hauling cane to the elevator. Cane is then loaded onto train cars. Everyday one harvesting unit is to meet their quota which is 70 train cars. U.S. Sugar grinds the cane on a daily basis (24 hours, 7 days a week for seven months).

Today we have expanded another 300 acres. After improving the land, we were left with 209 acres to plant cane.

Cane farming has three general standards in order to show profit; high sucrose, high tonnage and the ability to yield high for farming average.
